Farewell to this old Chevy but not the restoration business!

Just an update on the totally stock 1941 1/2-ton long bed Chevy truck that is listed here. As the story unfolds below, I bought that old truck in Napa back in December 2007. It was going to be my "Grampa truck."

However, as a result of the "new economy" and getting laid off, projects had to go.

In July of 2011 after 15 plus years at a County job, I was let go. The truck was sold to a gentleman who lives in Salinas. He was going to do a total restoraton. It is HIS Grampa truck now,

Not to be undone by a stinkin' economy, John adds:

Since being laid off, I have been keeping busy building and customizing other people's rides. One of the projects we are working on in a 1942 Chevrolet Brush Truck (Firetruck), which is now in the Gallery.

From John :

Back in 2007, I decided to find a good candidate for a cool old truck to drive around our small farm town. In December of that same year, my search had ended as I found a 1941 Chevy half-ton in Napa. It has a 216 engine and a 4 speed transmission.

I plan on keeping it mostly stock. So far, I have remounted the cab with a kit from Bow Tie Bits. I have been working on getting the dents out.

The old truck is currently covered in gray primer. Once it's ready for paint, I'm leaning towards a Smurf blue body with black fenders and running boards. But, there's lot's of other things to do first.  It needs work on the master cylinder, shocks, dash, gas tank, door guts and glass.

It will be fun though, just like putting a full size model together. So, I'm taking my time.
